I commenced this Driberg journey knowing very little about the history of the family - Dad did not know much about them, except the Ceylon connection, that they were in the military, and the immediate family. I recollect that he thought his grandfather William Thomas Driberg was the cook on the ship which brought him to New Zealand.
I started by obtaining death certificates in the early 1980's - the place of marriage was listed as Wellington and it was not until a researcher discovered that they were actually married in Napier and I was then able to continue my search. And of course, the internet from the 1990's brought researching much easier.
